VGC’s investment
Our investment in Kick Game was research-led having tracked the surge in popularity of brand collaborations and the emergence of luxury sneakers as an asset class alongside fine watches and designer handbags. Through a combination of research, physical store visits and testing the purchase experience of various competitors, we identified Kick Game as a high potential company at growth stage with the opportunity to corner the British market and expand into Europe.
VGC’s initial investment in 2020 allowed Kick Game to recruit a senior management team; develop a proprietary product management system; create audience-building, revenue-generating viral content on YouTube; and sign a transformational talent deal with UK rapper Fredo. With a further investment in 2021, Kick Game was able to increase stock and open pop-ups in seven key cities (so far) across the UK – with Europe to follow.
